Iron in the Chess Rock Community typically refers to the -1 iron and +1 iron memes or stickers. -1 iron in the Chess Rock Community means you misgendered someone or you pinged someone above their ping tolerance. The meaning of +1 iron is still unclear to this day.
Origin
The meme originated from the 0SMP, the first Minecraft SMP of the Chess Rock Community hosted by NotBaltic and Bakel. In the 0SMP, iron ingots were the currency due to everyone not being rich enough for diamonds. At the time as the 0SMP, Rick was having trouble correctly gendering Ral, who had only come out as a transgender woman only a few months earlier; so as one of the unofficial guidelines of the 0SMP, every time he misgendered Ral, he'd be fined 1 iron. Eventually the guideline was expanded to include misgendering anyone and unwarranted pings, making "-1 iron" synonymous with those two. The -1 iron meme was immortalized when NotBaltic turned it into the first sticker of the CRC, copying the social credit meme style. A few days later, Silvy's design for the +1 iron sticker won.
